"Swing Away was written in 2019. The song is meant to be a fun, catchy tune with a title that has a double meaning. The style of jazz here is swing, where the eight notes in the music have an unevenness to them as opposed to the more common straight and even eight notes. The other meaning is from baseball, where a batter may be told to "swing away", meaning to swing the bat in order to try and hit the ball. I hope you enjoy the song with whatever meaning works for you." Dan Crisci

"One Last Midnight was written in 2019 when I decided to stop doing a gig that I had been doing for a while. The song is about change, in particular about being able to make the decision to change from something that you no longer think should be a part of your life. Once the clock strikes midnight, the old thing is gone and the new must take over." Dan Crisci

"I tend to write a lot of slow moody ballads, songs that I like to call piano jazz meditations. After writing a lot of ballads, sometimes it's just time to change the mood. One day in 2019, I sat at the piano and intentionally thought of an energetic melody idea in my head. I quickly took the idea from my head to the piano and I was off to the races with a new song. After having this intentional burst of energy, the title was easy. I named it Burst." Dan Crisci

"In 2016, as my wife Ginny’s birthday approached, I decided to write her a song (with lyrics) as a birthday present. It certainly is not a quick thing for me to come up with lyrics and song titles, so I struggled to find the right words. At some point I connected with the fact that all I was doing was writing a little song for my wife, so my song title became I Wrote a Little Song.

The song debuted at Shanghai Jazz in Madison, NJ, where I accompanied the wonderful jazz singer Brynn Stanley. Ginny was there to hear it, and it turned out to be a nice birthday surprise.

Subsequently, I arranged the song for piano and choir, as can be heard in this performance by the Triad Arts Ensemble Choir." Dan Crisci

"This is a video that I made in 2020 with my wife, vocalist Ginny Johnston. As the world was in lockdown because of COVID 19, health care workers were taking care of many people who had contracted the virus. Many of us stayed home, but they were out there on the front lines, caring for many in need.

The song I wrote, For All of Us, is a thank you to all the health care workers who do such important work. Thanks to Ginny for singing the song and to Gene Guerrero for his work on the audio-visual end." Dan Crisci
